Using of the red cross sign as a protection sign. Is obvious that this way of using of the sign is effective and makes sence only in war. This does not mean that during peace there is no need to make preparations for this kind of using. The right to use the red cross sign as a protection sign in war have: 1. Buildings, gadges, medical material, transportation and carrying means and workers in health organizations (organizations in the area of health and in the area of social security for taking care of the persons in need of permanant medical help and nursing).

2. Buildings, gadges, medical material, transportation and carrying means of Yugoslav Red Cross and the persons assigned for the finding, collecting, transporting and nursing of the wounded and sick or preventing of disease;

.3. The civil protection units for first aid giving.

4. hospital ships

5. teams for first aid giving, organized by the health and other organizations and the Yugoslav Red Cross, during performing of those jobs

6. the means of land, water and air traffic serving for transportation of shipwreckers, wounded, sick and medical material.

Besides this, the red cross sign can be used as a sign of protection of the persons, medical units and institutions, buildings, gadgets, medical material and transportation and carrying means belonging to th medical service of the Yugoslav Army or to the madical services of other countries which with their country's consent work on its territory.

Also, the red cross sign can be used as a sign of protection of the staff, buildings, gadges, medical material and transportation and carrying means which are within the medical services of foreign organizations of Red Cross, Red Crescent and other foreign voluntary societies for helping when they act on the country's territory with its consent. Finally, the red cross sign is used as a sign for protection of medical zones and places meant for the protection of wounded and sick and persons who work on taking care and nursing of the wounded and the sick in those zones and places.

Besides in this way defined circle of persons and objects which can use the red cross sign as a sign for protection, the regulations clearly define the way in which the sign is used.
