USING AND PROTECTION RED CROSS SIGN

SIGN OF BELONGING

Using of the sign as the sign of belonging.
As itis already understood from the notional meaning, this way of using means that the red cross sign can be used bith in peace and in war to mark:

1. workers, buildings, means and material of the Yugoslav Red Cross
2. staff, means and the material of foreign organizations of Red Cross while they perform the work of Red Cross onthe territory of Yugoslavia, by the approval of the Federal Government.

It is clear that this way of using is reserved for the organizations of Red Cross, no matter if it is Yugoslav Red Cross or some foreign organization of Red Cross which works on the territory of Yugoslavia by the approval of the Federal Government.

This should be completely clear immediately: the sign of belonging does not meanprotection during the war. Because of this in the Genece Conventions it is strictly directed: the sign used by the national societies of Red Cross for marking the belonging of the persons and buildings should be clearly differentiated from the red cross sign used as a sign for protection. The sign of belonging should be of relatively small dimensions; it cannot be put on a tape around the arm and cannot be put on the roofs of the buildings belonging to the Red Cross.
